Sexy Hump Day 6: Men at Work

Back in Virginia after my lengthy vacation and tomorrow I’ll be back to work answering phones, filing paperwork, and general office gopher-like duties. Honestly, being an administrative assistant is not a bad job. Unfortunately, I am given little opportunity to meet people my age. If fact, most of the people I work with have children in the same age range as me, so I’m the kid of the office… at 28. C’est la vie!

Anyway, you’re here for hot men. Not many this week (was an unexpectedly difficult theme), but a few good ones.

Review: Lead Me On

Raw, animal magnetism…

…is a big red flag to prim and proper office manager Jane Morgan. After a rough childhood with a mother who liked her men in prison-jumpsuit orange, Jane changed her name, her look and her taste for bad boys. So why is she lusting for William Chase with his tattoo-covered biceps and steel-toed boots? The man blows things up for a living!

She gives herself one explosive, fantasy-filled night with Chase. The next day it’s back to plain Jane and safe men.

But when her beloved brother becomes a murder suspect, it’s Chase who comes to her rescue. And Jane discovers that a man who’s been around the block knows a thing or two about uncovering the truth….

Trailer Review: Dylan Dog: Dead of Night

For the most part, this is a good trailer. It’s action-packed, funny, and gives us enough plot points to get a gist of the story without giving away the ending. Brandon Routh has talent. His performance in Scott Pilgrim vs. The World was one of the highlights of the movie. Yes, Superman Returns was a flop, but if they’d gone the route of Batman Begins and used Routh as a younger, greener Superman he would be a perfect casting choice.

Coincidently, Brandon Routh and Sam Huntington were in both in Superman Returns as well. Huntington playing Jimmy Olsen to Routh’s Clark Kent. In Dylan Dog Sam Huntington stars as Marcus, the movie’s comedic relief. I’m actually unfamiliar with his work apart from his aforementioned appearance as Jimmy Olsen. From what we see in the trailer, Huntington can be funny in both a boisterously manic way and the calmer, almost deadpan manner displayed when he attends the zombie support group. If you want to check him out he currently stars on the American version of Being Human where he plays a werewolf.

Quite a few of the special effects look to be practical rather than cgi. When Dylan is sent flying across the street, it actually looks like Routh was harnessed and sent flying. And with the brief glimpses of creatures we see, many of them look to be real actors wearing well-made prosthetics. Hopefully, this means we will not have to sit through clay-faced abominations like Clu from Tron: Legacy.

What I don’t like are the text references towards the end of the trailer. The only on that makes a semblance of sense was “Superman Returns,” but it is still a cheap ploy that degrades the film.

Dylan Dog: Dead of Night comes out April 29th.

Sexy Hump Day 5: Sexy Romance

I really should be doing something more productive than searching the net for hot book covers, but let’s face it, whatever I would be doing wouldn’t nearly be as much fun! I now present a few of the more steamy romance novel covers on the market.

Duchess of Mine by Eloisa James

Perhaps the greatest title for a football romance.

Man of My Dreams by Johanna Lindsay (Like I'd forget Fabio! Never!)

Hope you enjoyed this look at sexy romance covers… ok, ok one more Fabio!

Sexy Hump Day 4: Beach Party Edition!

I am actually writing this on Tuesday, because I will be in airports all day. Because it’s time for…

Yup! For the next two weeks I am on vacation! I wish I could say that I’ll be rusticating on an isolated beach somewhere, reading a good book while being served drinks by a hot, blond…well that’s not important.

Anyway, I’ll be in Indianapolis visiting my folks and working on my superhero romance novella, which means I’ll probably have no time to relax. The roommate’s pretty excited for her vacation from me. Two weeks without her best friend? She asked me if I could leave sooner. I half-expect the locks to have been changed when I return.

So in honor of my time off, here are some sexy men relaxing on the beach.

Have a nice rest of the week!

Thunder, Thunder, ThunderCats Reboot Hooooo!

In case you’ve been living under a rock, Cartoon Network is rebooting the ThunderCats franchise in July.

From what we can see in the newest trailer (which premiered this past weekend at WonderCon) all the classic character are back with the same powers we remember. Tygra has a whip and can turn invisible. Cheetara has super speed and a bo staff. The twins are agile with smoke bombs. Though Panthro didn’t seem to appear in this trailer, but you can see him in the promo artwork.

We can also see that Cartoon Network is going for a more epic frame story. I can’t even remember the background story from the original.

Something about Lion-O’s kingdom being destroyed and his father dying. Then Lion-O and the other go into a space ship to escape the planet’s destruction. And the only one who ages in the suspended animation pods is Lion-O who goes from annoying child to muscular, still annoying man. And they are fighting a wimpy mummy that can become a super buff on Third Earth. Or something like that… really, all of the old cartoon shows had pretty cracked out plots.

The only thing I really do remember is Lion-O being annoying as hell. That and the theme song was freaking awesome! I really appreciate the somber chords of the classic theme at the end of the 2011 trailer.
